James Denselow: Obama's Orwellian Iraq

Posted by Staff in Untagged

Staff

If war is peace then perhaps failure is success.

Two years ago candidate Barack Obama criticised his rival John McCain for offering 'fake' change by stating that "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig". This evening President Obama will apply lipstick to the catastrophe that was the Iraq war. He will seek to suck the political poison out of America's involvement in Iraq by presenting a far more nuanced case for victory in the country than George W Bush's ill-advised words spoken on an aircraft carrier over seven years ago.

Obama has succeeded in depoliticizing the Iraq conflict. By virtually sticking to the identical exit plans of his predecessor, utilizing Vice-President Bidden as the face of American policy in Baghdad, and simultaneously withdrawing uniformed soldiers while up scaling the numbers of civilian contractors, Obama has been a champion for winning the official narrative for the US invasion of the country.

JUBA, Sudan — Aid officials say Southern Sudanese troops are behind a spike in attacks on humanitarian workers, including the looting of food.

Aid workers are increasingly concerned that access to needy populations may be further restricted as a January vote on independence for the south approaches. The U.N. says 4 million people in Southern Sudan – half the population – rely on food aid.

Associated Press: OZREM, Serbia — In a remote Serbian mountain village, they're cooking up delicacies to make your mouth water – or your stomach churn. At the seventh annual World Testicle Cooking Championship, visitors watch – and sometimes taste – as teams of chefs cook up bull, boar, camel, ostrich and even kangaroo testicles.

"This festival is all about fun, food and bravery," said Ljubomir Erovic, the Serbian chef and testicles gourmand specialist who organizes the bizarre cooking festival and has published a testicle cookery book.

The food – politely called "white kidneys" in Serbian – is believed to be rich in testosterone. In the Balkans, it is considered to help men's libido.

Mike Elk: Obama Social Security Commissioner Threatens Small Town with Nuclear Annihilation

Posted by Staff in Untagged

Staff

A lot of attention recently has been focused on one of President Obama's top advisors on Social Security - Former Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY) after he described Social Security as being "a milk cow with 310 million tits". Perhaps attention should be focused instead on a much more sinister member of President Obama's personal appointments to serve on his deficit commission.

Meet Honeywell CEO David Cote - the most dangerous man in America. David Cote is so dangerous that he's willing to risk nuclear fallout in order demand that uranium workers agree to by cutting their retiree health care and pension plans.

Honeywell runs the only conversion facility in the world that can distill pure uranium in Metropolis, Illinois. On June 28th, Honeywell locked out its union workers during contract negotiations because the union United Steelworkers (USW) Local 7-669 refused to accept the company proposal to eliminate retiree health care and pension plans for new hires and increase workers' out of pocket health care to $8,500 a year. Good health care coverage for retirees is so important to uranium workers who suffer rates of cancer ten times higher than the general public due to their daily interaction with radioactive material; thus the workers refused to give in to demands to cut their retiree health care coverage entirely.
